WodenStel is the design and manufacturing practice of Tom Wodehouse. He designs and develops bespoke pieces in steel, from kitchens and furniture to individual commissions. Clients, architects and designers work directly with him from the first conversation through to completion.

project-led design

Every WodenStel project starts with the requirements of the space, the brief and the way the finished piece needs to work. Each design is developed specifically for the project, rather than adapted from a standard range.

Detailed CAD development allows the design to be explored and refined before anything is made, considering proportions, materials, construction and how the finished piece will function within its surroundings.

design & manufacturing

Design and manufacturing are closely connected at WodenStel. Tom's experience in CAD design, metals and sheet-metal construction gives him a practical understanding of how materials behave and how a design needs to be constructed to work properly.

Tom carries out the design and project management himself. Manufacturing is handled through trusted UK suppliers, while Tom personally checks, finishes, assembles and makes any final adjustments before the piece leaves the workshop.

Every finished piece is personally inspected before it leaves the workshop, with delivery and installation overseen by Tom where required.

Tom's background is in bespoke furniture and kitchen design, with particular experience in CAD, metals and sheet-metal design.

WodenStel brings that experience together in an independent practice where Tom can work directly with clients and design professionals, developing bespoke work from the initial idea through to the finished piece.

Steel kitchens became a natural starting point for WodenStel, but they are only part of the work. The same approach extends to furniture, storage, interiors and individual commissions.
